Making these dinner rolls is so easy you could literally do it with your eyes closed

Simply mix all the ingredients and knead till smooth, proof the dough, form the rolls, proof once again and bake.

Most of the times, I use a Kitchen Aid to process my dough.  It makes the work so easy plus, I get to keep my hands clean.

Just imagine throwing all your ingredients into the bowl, putting on the dough hook attachment and letting the Kitchen Aid do all the work for you.  Don’t have a Kitchen Aid? No Hassle!!  You can still do this all manually and achieve the same results.

A few Good-to-have items for baking

Kitchen Scale: Makes the measuring of dry ingredients much easier. An off measure of flour can easily mess your bread up.

A Kitchen Aid: for a hassle free preparation of the dough.  While the machine is doing the kneading for you, you could be preparing a side to accompany these yummy rolls.

  3. Increase speed to medium and beat for 6 minutes till a smooth dough is formed.

To do that, lightly beat one egg and 2 tbsp of milk in a small bowl.  using a brush, gently egg-wash the proofed rolls.
  10. In the meantime, preheat the oven to 370°F (187°C) and bake the rolls for about 13 to 16 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Remove the dinner rolls from the oven and brush immediately with melted butter.  Let the rolls cool down, serve and Enjoy!!

How To Serve Dinner Rolls

Dinner rolls are so versatile and can be served with literally anything.  Often in our house, we eat them smothered with butter and jam, use them for making sandwiches or drench them in gravies.

Storing Dinner Rolls

  • Keep your dinner rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for about 3 days.

  • If you happen to make a bigger batch, freeze the ones that you know would not be used right away. Just make sure you wrap them in plastic wrap first then put in a freezer bag. You can keep these for up to three months. When ready just bring them to room temperature in the fridge or on the kitchen countertop.

Can You Re-warm Dinner Rolls?

  • There’s no need to throw out stale dinner rolls if you know how to refresh them correctly.
  • To reheat, brush the top of the dinner rolls with water and bake in a preheated oven for 6 minutes.
  • If using a microwave, heat the rolls for 10 -15 seconds on high.

More Tips

  • If you are using dry yeast make sure you activate it in lukewarm milk to help get it started. Cold water won’t activate the yeast and hot water will kill it.  Luke warm water works best!!
  • This is a quite sticky dough but it gives you the fluffiest and chewy dinner rolls.  Don’t be tempted to add more flour.
  • Are you trying to proof dough on a relatively cold day, place the bowl somewhere warmer like the top of a fridge or in a warm (but turned off) oven.
  • Preheat your oven for at least 10 minutes before you put your rolls in there.
  • Tent the dinner rolls with aluminium foil if they are getting too brown in the oven.
