Kenyan ginger-also known as Chai ya Tangawizi in Swahili, is a sweet tea made with milk, water, black tea leaves and infused with ginger. It is not only quick and easy to make, but also requires just a handful of ingredients.

1tbspBlack tea
2cupsWater
3cupsMilk
Sugar to taste
2tspGinger powder OR (1 1/2 tsp freshly grated ginger)
Instructions
In a large pot over medium heat, bring water to a boil.
Once it comes to a boil, add black tea leaves and simmer for a minute.
To that, add milk and ginger powder and stir with a whisk.
Simmer the mixture for about 5 minutes on low heat and sieve into your tea mug.
Add sugar to your taste and ENJOY.
Notes
Feel free to adjust the ratio of milk to water depending on how creamy you like your tea.
For a quicker version of this recipe, substitute fresh ginger with dried ginger powder.
Substituted the milk with almond milk or any other plant-based milk for a vegan version.
