500gall-purpose flour (3 cups)
1tablespoon dry yeast
50ggranulated sugar (1/4 cup)
1tspsalt (5g)
200ml milk lukewarm
125gbutter (1/2 stick)softened
2tbsp buttermelted for brushing the baked rolls
1egg (room temperature)
Instructions
Combine milk, yeast, eggs, flour, sugar, and salt in the bowl of a stand mixer
Attach the dough hook and mix on the lowest setting until all ingredients are well incorporated
Increase speed to medium and beat for 3 minutes till a smooth dough is formed.
The dough should be slightly sticky and soft and pull away from the edge of the bowl.
Transfer the dough to a large bowl, (lightly greased) and cover with a plastic wrap.
Let it rise in a warm place (not hot) for 30 minutes to 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
Deflate the dough and transfer to a lightly floured work surface.
Divide the dough into 20 equal parts and form smooth balls.
Transfer the ball into a prepared (lightly greased baking sheet), cover with plastic wrap and let it rise for 30 minutes.
In the meantime, preheat the oven to 370°F (187°C) and bake the rolls for about 13 to 16 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove the dinner rolls from the oven and brush immediately with melted butter. Serve and Enjoy!!
Notes
If you are using dry yeast, make sure you activate it in lukewarm milk to help get it started. Cold water won’t activate the yeast and hot water will kill it. Luke warm water works best!!
This is a quite sticky dough but it gives you the fluffiest and chewy dinner rolls. Don't be tempted to add more flour.
Are you trying to proof dough on a relatively cold day, place the bowl somewhere warmer like the top of a fridge or in a warm (but turned off) oven.
Preheat your oven for at least 10 minutes before you put your rolls in there.
Tent the dinner rolls with aluminium foil if they are getting too brown in the oven
