What advice would you give to your younger self if you had the chance to go back in time?  I find myself in that exact spot asking myself this question. As a teen way up to my mid-twenties, I felt lost because although I had an idea of what I wanted in my life, I didn’t know where to start and how to get there. Now, I look back at how everything turned out and I wish could tell these few things to my younger self.  Below are 12 things I would say to myself.

1. Don’t worry too much; it will be okay.
First of all, don’t worry too much about how your life will be.  Instead of worrying, spend that valuable time working towards your goals.  The sooner you meet those goals, the better it is for you.

2. Be more Confident.
I know that you don’t always think that you are good enough, and that weighs down on your confidence but let me tell you that you are okay just the way you are.  Be more confident even with your body now because when you reach the “3rd floor” your metabolism will slow down!”

3. Always Trust your Instinct.
If someone asked me what advice would you give to your younger self Jayne?, more than anything else, I would say always trust your gut feeling.  That feeling you have about how good or bad something is for you is never wrong. Trust it, Jayne! If something doesn’t feel right, then it isn’t right.  Learn to always listen to it.

4. Don’t be so gullible.
Many times, you trust people blindly because you think that they have your best interests at heart.  That notion is going to put you in trouble.  Before you settle for other people’s opinion of what is right, it is imperative to always to do your research.

5. Enjoy your youth more.
When you become a mother at the age of 21 years, so many things will change. Your life will revolve around your family and work which isn’t a bad thing, but everything has its time.  Therefore, enjoy your youth more.

6. Always listen to your parents.
I know sometimes you find it difficult to believe that your parents have your best interest at heart, but they do. They have been there and done that, so listen to them.

7. It´s ok to feel heartbroken.
We have all been through that feeling of extreme sadness and disappointment. It´s OK; embrace it because God has a better plan for you.

8. Not everyone deserves your time.
There are friendships you can honestly do without if only you knew what I know now. If someone doesn’t serve your purpose, let them go.

9. Having secrets is alright.
Not everyone you interact with deserves to know details of your life. Believe it or not, some will only use the information to drug your name through the mad. Therefore, be very choosy with the people you allow close to you.

10. Don’t mind what other people think about you.
When people say all those discouraging words to you, hear blah blah and When they say you are not good enough, understand blah blah. You are the driver of your own life. Do that thing that you have always wanted to do and lend a deaf ear to naysayers.

11. Don’t procrastinate.
Last but not least, don’t procrastinate.  You are going to waste a lot of valuable time as a result of procrastination. Therefore, if there is something you want to do, go ahead and start now.

12. It will be alright.

Lastly, God has a reason for every season.  Some seasons are there to teach you a lesson; some are purely for growth and others, well, only God knows why they are there.  All in all, God doesn’t give you any load that you can’t carry.  Everything you are going through is only meant to shape you into a stronger woman. Don’t regret anything because those are the things that will make you who you are today.
